Morning

Tuesday mornings begin with immersive science seminars, where CYP youth rotate annually through Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. Specialized content facilitators guide them through experiments, observation, and analysis—strengthening curiosity, precision, and creative problem-solving. While facilitators support the inquiry process, the learning remains youth-driven: participants ask questions, design tests, and connect scientific concepts to real-world systems.

Recently, youth designed and constructed cloud chambers—scientific devices that make invisible subatomic particles visible. Inside these chambers, supersaturated alcohol vapor condenses into droplets when charged particles such as electrons or cosmic rays pass through, creating delicate, observable trails. This project offered a tangible window into atomic and cosmic activity, blending physics, engineering, and hands-on investigation.

Each seminar rotation challenges youth to think critically, experiment responsibly, and reflect deeply on what they observe. These experiences meet the rigor of college-preparatory science courses while maintaining Cupola’s holistic, learner-driven philosophy. Whether measuring motion, studying living systems, or exploring chemical reactions, CYP youth engage with science as both a method and a mindset—one that unites understanding with imagination and wonder.
