Afternoon

Thursday afternoons are dedicated to hands-on science. Throughout the fall, youth engage in experiments that expose them to diverse scientific concepts and lab methods. They practice following procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and understanding how scientific thinking connects to everyday life.

As winter arrives, the focus shifts to CP3’s annual Independent Science Projects—a signature component of the program. Youth develop a scientific question, form a hypothesis, design and conduct a full experiment, and analyze their results. First-year CP3ers present their findings to peers, while second-year CP3ers share their work with the broader Cupola community. These experiences cultivate independence, scientific literacy, and confidence.
